Subject to plans continuing as expected, from September 2026 the current Allsorts Preschool will begin an exciting new chapter as part of St Bartholomew’s Primary Academy, becoming fully integrated into the life of our school.

For the coming weeks, the setting will continue to operate under the Allsorts name, which you may still see in our communications and advertising. From September, it will officially become known as Fledglings at St Bart’s as part of its next phase within the school.

This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen the journey for our youngest children, ensuring a seamless and consistent experience from the very start of their education through to Year 6. By bringing preschool provision into the school, we can further align our values, curriculum and care, enabling children to feel confident, settled and ready as they move into Reception.

I would like to reassure you that there will be a strong focus on continuity; it is our intention that the preschool children will continue to be supported by familiar adults within a nurturing and well-established environment.

We will however be making a number of improvements to further enhance the environment and experience for children. This will include repainting the preschool building, installing more secure perimeter fencing, enhanced security and enabling preschool children to access wider areas of the school site as part of their day. We are also looking forward to working more collaboratively across the early years, strengthening links between Preschool and Reception to support children’s development.

As part of this next chapter, Fledglings will also introduce a new preschool uniform, designed to align with the St Bart’s identity while remaining practical and comfortable for young children.

As part of this transition, we will be making a small adjustment to the hourly rate, which will increase from £7.10 to £7.30 from September. This reflects both the investment in the provision and the increasing costs of delivering high-quality early years education. If you would like to speak with us about your circumstances, please do get in touch confidentially. We remain committed to ensuring that our preschool continues to offer excellent value while providing a safe, nurturing and well-resourced environment.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Allsorts committee and staff for their dedication and commitment in establishing and developing the preschool over time. Their work has created a strong and valued provision for the community, which we are proud to build upon as we move forward.

We are committed to making this transition as smooth and positive as possible for every child and family. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

This is very much an exciting next chapter for our school community. Watch this space for more information!
