Welcome to Year 4's page, where you will find relevant information about Herons and Flamingos classes.
PE days will continue to be on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Library day will still be on a Wednesday. Please ensure your child comes to school with their library book and reading record.
Throughout Term 3, Year 4 continued to enjoy Forest School sessions on Thursday afternoons, in which they learned to tie a clove hitch with a rope, built shelters using their problem-solving skills, learned about the biodiversity of the site through exploration and created crafts using natural materials.
In maths this term, we will be learning written methods for multiplication and division, using both formal and informal methods, including when exchanging is needed in multiple columns.
In Science, our Big Question is ‘How can I classify living things?’. We will be learning about the similarities and differences between living things using classification keys. We will learn about flowering and non-flowering plants, the key differences between vertebrates and invertebrates, the key characteristics of insects, arachnids and molluscs, and the key characteristics of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish.
In History, our Big Question is ‘Was Henry IIIV a good monarch?’ We will be exploring whether Henry IIIV was a fair ruler or a tyrant, why he had so many wives, why Anne Boleyn was executed, and what primary sources from Tudor times can tell us about life in those days.
