On this page you will find links and photos of things we have done recently and what we will be looking forward to in the future.
We will be regularly updating the photos of the learning activities we have got up to, so please come back again soon.
If you would like any further information about the learning we have covered, or the forth-coming learning topics, please don’t hesitate to come and see us. We will also post topic overviews for the term and homework tasks on the classroom noticeboards.
English – In English we wrote fiction stories and explanation texts. We had an alien come into school and a spy came in and talked about the alien. We made rockets and sun dials. We made posters of the earth’s movements and learnt about conjuctions.
Maths – At the start of the term we decided what we would take to space. We have done a lot of rounding, we made a puzzle. We solved puzzles using addition.

This term our topic was A Christmas Carol and Victorians. We have been reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens for guided reading and learning about it. In English we’ve been learning about stories and explanation texts. We have written our own explanation texts too! In Maths we’ve been doing lots of things such as all four operations, Roman numerals, area and perimeter and more. Our main topic in Science is light and shadows. We have been doing experiments on how shadows form and how light is reflected off different objects.

Kestrel’s class have been learning about the Six Nations (a rugby tournament). The Six Nations are; England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy. We have been researching the national animals of these countries in order to write an information text. We have learnt about bottlenose dolphins, including Fungi – a unique dolphin living in Dingle, Ireland. We have drawn these animals for our art projects as well as learning about the geography of these nations. We are hoping to present our amazing work to our parents in a culture café, later this term.
Kestrels’ have been enjoying many things this term but one of our highlights was the ISingPop week, where we were taught 7 songs by Rosie the tutor. We really enjoyed ISingPop because there were lots of songs and they were well chosen. Most of the songs were really easy to learn and also extremely catchy –we can’t get them out of our heads. The songs had different values and we learnt stories around those values too; thankfulness, friendship, freedom, guidance, peace, joy, self-sacrificial love. A big thank you to both ISingPop and Mrs Marchment for organising the event.
During this term our topic has been Crime and Punishment, we have learnt about some punishments from throughout history. We’ve also written our own newspaper reports about Othello and Jack and the Beanstalk – we even got to make up our own adverts. Science this term has been investigating the human body and we even tried dissecting a heart to explore how our circulation system works.
