We are so proud of all our pupils who put on two fantastic concerts on Friday. They certainly raised the roof with their wonderful energy and enthusiasm and inspired and uplifted everyone who was lucky enough to attend. The children’s hard work over the last week has paid off as they treated us to a highly professional concert, complete with dance moves and incredible singing. We’re all looking forward to hearing the album once it is released.
Mrs Marchment, who has a Degree in Music Therapy, brought the project to St Bart’s because, in her own words, she believes passionately that music is an important part of a child's development. She felt that this time of year would be particularly good to welcome spring and bring everyone out of the February blues! She has said: “judging by the singing and smiling I've seen this week, iSingPOP has definitely done that!”
Everyone enjoyed the songs about thankfulness, happiness, friendship, guidance, love, freedom and appreciation. As part of their rehearsals the children were involved in various games and activities that encouraged them to think about the meaning of these values and make an emotional connection to the songs. Lots of parents spoke afterwards about Only Love that left many with a tear in their eye.
It was wonderful to see the whole school united in such an inspiring project that reflects the Christian values at the heart of our ethos. Eight year old Finley probably put it best when he said “iSingPOP is all about God’s love for us and it makes me feel happy when I sing the songs.”
Congratulations to all those budding pop stars for doing such a tremendous job!
