We certainly got into the spirit of things here at St Bart’s for Comic Relief; determined to raise as much as we could for the appeal and have a good laugh doing so.
Under the misapprehension that they were about to be treated to a reinvigorating spa treatment, several of our teachers agreed to take part in the “soak a teacher” event. (Erm, whose bright idea was this anyway?...) Pupils of all ages wasted no time in getting proceedings underway by launching wet sponges at their favourite teachers, clearly enjoying the opportunity to get their own back for hours of homework. The teachers themselves showed great restraint in not hurling them back again!
The event was a resounding success and everyone agreed that the heroes of the day were our good-natured teachers for being such great sports. In spite of being cold and wet they even managed to crack a smile for the camera and have earned themselves big kudos amongst our pupils. Leo, Emily and Aidan from Year 6 said “What a very wet event! It was very fun and I could see a lot of happy faces. It didn’t look like much fun for the teachers though!” Sharlott and Charlie, also Year 6, thought “It was a privilege to soak the teachers. It was very nice of the teachers to let us throw sponges at them for charity.”
In the afternoon we hosted our own version of Bargain Hunt with our table top sale in the hall. A whole treasure trove of eclectic items went on display and it was fun to watch our enthusiastic customers eagerly scrabbling through the offerings to find just the right thing to spend their pocket money on. This was made possible by your donations of toys and books as well as coming along to the sale. We genuinely appreciate your ongoing support for all our initiatives, thank you.
It’s fantastic that together we’ve raised over £300 for this very worthwhile cause.
